Darcy Secures Long-Term Deal with Freo, Membrey Slims Down for Saints Return

Fremantle have signed Sean Darcy to a six-year contract extension, warding off interest from other AFL clubs in the process.

The 25-year-old ruckman was approached by his home state team, Geelong, but decided to stay with Fremantle until 2030.

Darcy said the team is working hard to improve after a disappointing season and he is excited for the upcoming season.

Darcy’s 2023 season ended due to an ankle injury, but he is hopeful to return to full training in January.

The Dockers also expect to receive a substantial contribution from returning player Tim Membrey, who was a late withdrawal before the Saints’ 2021 elimination final due to a personal health issue.

Max King, who underwent three rounds of shoulder surgery last season, is also expected to return to full training by January.

The Saints’ captain Jack Steele and other players are also expected back in full training by January.
