Lost in a Dream: Warner’s Surreal Exit Without Clothes or Baggy Green

David Warner’s farewell at SCG must have felt like a dream, particularly in his final Test when he momentarily lost his baggy green. Pakistan did not get off to an ideal start, losing both openers within eight balls. Their batsmen struggled, with the exception of Mohammad Rizwan who played aggressively and scored 88 runs. Australia’s plans changed when Pat Cummins trapped Pakistan with deceptive fielding tactics. Aamer Jamal further frustrated the Australian bowlers, finishing on 313. Warner resumed the second day only to be dropped by Pakistan fielders. Despite weather warnings, the umpires used their best judgement. Steve Smith distracted the game with an interruption over a piece of tape on the sight screen. Pakistan’s innings was further stalled as Josh Hazlewood made big breakthroughs. Warner, however, said goodbye with an impressive half-century. The end result was Australia chasing and winning 130 runs.
